Become a part of the Joy Corps—our team of high-achieving teen tutors who deliver free, customized literacy support to younger students. Based in Austin, TX, with opportunities to tutor virtually anywhere, you’ll gain leadership skills, make a real impact, and serve your community.

2) Complete tutor training.
3) Begin tutoring and mentoring students in your community.

Compensation & Rank Structure

As a Joy Corps member, you’ll receive a monthly stipend based on your rank, which reflects your consistency, leadership, and impact in the program:

🧑🏽‍🏫 Lieutenant – $15/hr -- eligible for promotion after 50 hours

👩🏾‍🏫 Captain – $17.50/hr -- eligible for promotion after 200 hours

🧑🏿‍🏫 Major – $20/hr

Each promotion comes with greater responsibility and greater reward. More details on how to earn promotions during training.

We offer 30 minute virtual tutoring sessions Monday through Thursday on Google Meet. We also provide in person tutoring at the East Communities YMCA on Wednesdays and at Pathways at Northgate on Tuesdays and Thursdays. What is your availability?
