Mission
We specialize in cross-age tutoring, equipping older youth to provide free, individualized 1:1 literacy support to children.
About Us
We trained teens to mentor younger learners for 25-minute one-on-one sessions 2-4 times per week. This cross-age model makes practice fun, strengthens confidence, and helps kids read more smoothly and understand what they read while families stay in the loop and pay nothing. (Chang, A. and Mauer, E. (2024).
Why We Exist
Many children who live in public and affordable housing are zoned to underperforming schools, which means they are less likely to receive the high quality reading and writing instruction they deserve.
We exist to change that. In partnership with community stakeholders like the Housing Authority of the City of Austin, we bring free, high impact literacy tutoring directly into neighborhoods so children can build strong literacy skills and real opportunity.

We partner with Austin Pathways of the Housing Authority of the City of Austin (HACA) to bring high-impact literacy support to their residents.
East Communities YMCA
At the East Communities YMCA, we have tutoring every Monday and Wednesday from 5 to 7. Open to the public.
